DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE assistant manager Terry Harris has admitted that Daggers have been in tentative discussions to bring fans' favourite Matt Ritchie back to Victoria Road.

Any deal for the dazzling winger, who had such an impact last season with 12 goals, depends on whether Pompey can sort out their ongoing off the field problems.

Ritchie has spent time on loan with Notts County this season, scoring three times in 19 appearances, but has now returned to Fratton Park.

Contact

"We are in regular contact with Matt, but that move is in the lap of the gods as Pompey need all hands to the pump at the moment," said Harris.

"Of course it's a deal we'd love to do, but it all depends on what happens there.

"He did very well for us in his time here, and I also think we were very good for him too."

Daggers announced two further deals this week, as they completed the signing of Dorchester Town striker Phil Walsh, while Peterborough left back Jamie Day also agreed to stay for another month.

"Phil is now on board, he's someone we have picked up from our contacts and we're pleased to have him," said Harris.

"He came in and trained with us, scoring a couple of goals against Charlton in a friendly and we have been impressed with him.

"Phil wants to see if he can make it at this level and he sees himself as a striker, as we do. But he can play in defence too, so like Jon Nurse, its important to have that versatility.

Agreed

"We have also agreed to take Jamie for another month.

"He was just starting to get back to near his best after playing regularly for us, so I have spoken to Barry Fry and that is all going ahead."

Striker Mark Nwokeji is back with the club now, but could well return to Luton for another loan spell.

Meanwhile, both Will Antwi and Anwar Uddin are progressing well in their quest to return to full fitness.
