Daggers v Morecambe PLAYER RATINGS

28 September 2009

STAR MAN: Stuart Thurgood
STAR MAN: Stuart Thurgood
DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE saw their 100 per cent record at Victoria Road ended by Morecambe at the weekend after a second half penalty from Phil Jevons.

Here is how we rated the players.

GK: Tony Roberts - 6 - another quiet game for the Welshman apart from the penalty incident. At first it looked like a stonewall spotkick, but looking again on the TV, Roberts might well have been unlucky with the call.

RB: Scott Doe - 7 - strong defensively again, although occasionally gets beaten too easily when he dives in for a sliding tackle. Needs to work on his crossing too.

LB: Scott Griffiths - 8 - got up and down his flank yet again, and with a bit more composure in front of goal, might have managed his second of the season.

CB: Mark Arber - 8 - solid performance from the skipper, who came up against a tough opponent in John Mullin.

CB: Will Antwi - 8 - won his headers once more and continues to give Daggers an imposing presence at the heart of the defence.

RW: Danny Green - 7 - finally completed 90 minutes for the Daggers and put in another busy display down the win, almost set up Benson for a last minute winner.

CM: Danny Spiller - 7 - first start for Daggers and looked a class touch with the ball at his feet, some of the football he played with Thurgood and Gain was outstanding.

CM: Stuart Thurgood - 8 - STAR MAN - out of the new signings for Daggers, is probably proving the most invaluable with his work-rate alone. Loves to put a challenge in, but excellent ability on the ball too.

LW: Peter Gain - 6 - out on the left again this week after Still opted to drop Jon Nurse, and wasn't able to exert his usual dominance on the game.

CF: Josh Scott - 7 - got the goal his performance deserved and could have had another in the second half, but saw his shot flash narrowly off target.

CF: Paul Benson - 7 - did his best work creating on Saturday, as he set up Scott's goal, and in the form he is in, would have expected to bury his one-on-one chance in the final minute.

SUBS NOT USED: Chris Lewington, Abu Ogogo, Billy Bingham, Graeme Montgomery, Tommy Tejan-Sie, Wes Thomas, Graeme Montgomery.
