Barking & Dagenham students march on Downing Street

27 July 2010
PUPILS and staff have handed nearly 1,000 letters of protest into No 10 Downing Street over the withdrawal of cash for refurbishments at their school.

Dagenham Park Community School, School Road, Dagenham, expressed its concern after £270m was lost when the government axed the Building Schools for the Future programme for secondary schools in the borough.

Sydney Russell and Dagenham Park are the only two schools in the borough that may still get the funding because contractors have already invested time and money planning the projects.
