While studying at sixth form for two years, I had already decided I wanted to study for a degree. A lot of my friends chose the same option, but I feel that more needs to be done to enlighten students.

There are plenty of opportunities to take, such as studying at university, working full-time, starting apprenticeships or maybe even taking a gap year to either study or work abroad.

Although many fellow students already had their heart set on getting into university, I still feel that not enough information is given to students that want to do something else.

I enjoy university, but it may not be right for everyone and for those who aren’t interested, there needs to be a bigger focus on the various available alternatives.

Many students may also be discouraged from going to university, due to tuition fees rising from the next academic year. Not everyone will be able to afford the money, so students need more guidance on other options.
