Dagenham & Redbridge defender Mark Arber felt his side did enough to earn a point at Oxford United

Skipper Mark Arber believes Dagenham & Redbridge’s display in their 2-1 defeat at Oxford United on Tuesday was worthy of a rare away point.

After Oli Johnson had given Chris Wilder’s play-off hopefuls the lead, Arber levelled with the 50th league goal of his career and it seemed Daggers were set to take their third point from 12 games on the road.

But James Constable netted his 10th goal of the season in the closing minutes to earn Oxford the points from a closely fought contest.

And Arber admitted the defeat was hard to take.

“It was frustrating,” said the former Spurs trainee.

“We’ve had them watched and worked all week in training on coping with their shape. We came in at half time and it was ‘well done us’.

“We frustrated them, there weren’t many chances in the game, but away from home you’ve got to be hard to beat.

“The game opened up in the second half. They changed their formation two or three times in the game which was a credit to us, but ultimately we’ve been beaten which is a disappointment.

“Anyone watching the game would have said a draw would have been a fair result.”
